Using Teledomica’s Mixed Reality Platform

TEMSA TURNED CONCEPT-STAGE DESIGN INTO CUSTOMER ORDERS

TEMSA’s design team confronted a dilemma familiar to advanced manufacturers: how to secure customer buy-in for a product that existed only as a digital model. Traditional presentation methods like renders, videos, and slide decks were too abstract to inspire confidence or accelerate decisions.

Using Teledomica’s mixed-reality platform, the team transformed static 3D models into lifelike, full-scale interactive experiences. Clients could walk around the bus, explore its interior, and evaluate proportions in real context. The experience was vivid and compelling in a way that a static render could never be.

TEMSA’s forward-thinking decision to adopt Teledomica turned a concept presentation into an interactive experience, and then an actual customer order, proving that advanced 3D visualization, or more broadly, spatial computing, can now become a true commercial accelerator. Even better, the adoption reduced demo costs and preparation time, enhanced confidentiality, and improved feedback quality. Teledomica helped TEMSA strengthen its position as a technological pioneer within the automotive sector.

Company Background

Founded more than fifty years ago, TEMSA is a leading Turkish manufacturer of buses and coaches, jointly owned by Sabancı Holding and PPF Group. Operating across Turkey, France, Germany, and the United States, the company employs over 1,000 people and commands roughly one-third of the North American intercity coach market. Long recognized for sustainable design and electric mobility initiatives, TEMSA’s leadership emphasizes innovation as a strategic differentiator in a competitive global industry.

The Challenge

Before Teledomica, TEMSA relied on 2D visuals to showcase early-stage bus concepts. However, these approaches often did not fully engage stakeholders effectively, leading to inefficiencies and risks that impacted design validation, decision-making, and sales processes.

Key pain points included:

  • Massive Time and Cost Sinks: Ali Kaan İlhan, Industrial Design and Innovation Manager at TEMSA, estimates an average of 72 man-hours for preparation of demos alone, with additional demo costs varying by project size and production methods, potentially adding another 120 man-hours for processing and implementation.

  • Security and Confidentiality Risks: Sharing renders posed significant intellectual property threats, as controlling the circulation of screenshots or presentations was challenging. This represented a major commercial risk for TEMSA, where breaches in confidentiality could undermine competitive advantages.

  • Customer Persuasion Difficulties: 2D visuals often proved insufficient and not compelling, making it hard to convince clients of the design's viability.

  • Poor Feedback Loops: Customers struggled to provide detailed feedback, resulting in lower-quality input that slowed iterations. The lack of interactive elements meant stakeholders couldn't explore designs in depth, leading to vague or incomplete responses.

Among these challenges, İlhan highlights the confidentiality challenge as particularly critical:

"During the presentation, it is quite difficult to control breaches of confidentiality through screenshots or the circulation of the presentation itself, which poses a significant commercial risk to our company."

This issue was vital because it directly threatened TEMSA's intellectual property and market position.

Decision To Adopt Teledomica

The turning point came during a project where the prototype was incomplete, but the bus needed to be shown to customers. İlhan and his department director decided to implement Teledomica to address this gap. The platform was selected to enable virtual demonstrations without physical prototypes, ensuring secure and immersive interactions. Teledomica was integrated into the workflow by simply uploading existing 3D models directly to the platform. Later on, the solution was deployed across multiple processes:

  • Presentation of concept products to customers

  • Design validation

  • Upper management decision support

  • Sales demo (customer experience without physical product)

  • Trade show & event presentations

  • Remote 3D sales/customer meetings

These features not only support the Industrial Design and Innovation department, they also benefit upper management, sales teams, and customers. Teledomica further simplified collaboration across departments. İlhan notes:

“It strengthened communication and feedback with management, sales teams, and customers, accelerating and facilitating our design validation, presentation, and decision-making processes.”

Tangible Benefits and Outcomes

Adopting Teledomica yielded multiple advantages, transforming TEMSA's design and sales workflows:

Impact Area
Result
Man-Hours

25–35% fewer prep hours across design and sales teams

Demo Costs

50–75% reduction by eliminating physical prototypes

Decision Speed

30% shorter approval timelines with real-time alignment

Feedback Quality

20–30% fewer rework cycles with clearer, more actionable input

Concept Security

80–90% reduction in confidentiality risks through controlled virtual sessions

Customer Persuasion & Experience

40–50% higher engagement and faster conversion from concept to order

Feedback from internal teams and customers has been overwhelmingly positive. İlhan shares:

“Other functions, internal and external, and customers, were impressed and highly satisfied by the experience; other departments developed ideas to integrate Teledomica into their processes. Customers loved to be involved in the process and the innovative presentation style. The Teledomica experience boosted TEMSA's brand perception as innovative, adaptable to change, and technology-driven.”

Looking ahead, TEMSA plans to continue current uses while expanding Teledomica into after-sales services, design and production processes.

Conclusion

TEMSA’s adoption of Teledomica illustrates how immersive technologies can close the long-standing gap between design intent and customer conviction. By moving beyond static renders toward a real-scale, interactive medium, the company redefined what a “concept presentation” means. The result was the transformation of the commercial dialogue from explanation to a memorable experience, from persuasion to active participation.

Managerial Insights for Manufacturers:

  • Virtual proximity accelerates sales cycles. Mixed reality enables distributed teams and clients to inspect/iterate designs in real-time, cutting travel costs and shrinking B2B timelines from months to weeks, or even days.

  • Security and agility are complementary, not competing, priorities. By keeping proprietary designs inside a controlled spatial environment, TEMSA protected their intellectual property while accelerating collaboration and feedback.

  • Integrating mixed reality tools into cross-departmental workflows can drive organizational innovation by facilitating seamless collaboration, uncovering new applications beyond initial use cases, and ultimately enhancing overall competitiveness in the manufacturing sector.

For TEMSA, the impact of using Teledomica was immediate: concept-stage designs that once required months of physical preparation became market-ready sales assets capable of generating orders before production. For other industrial firms, the case offers a blueprint for how spatial computing can be a transformative experience – and a revenue enabler.

“Teledomica lets us create entire office setups with just a few physical pieces. Clients love customizing in real time; it’s a total game-changer.”
